The General Assembly of ALDA, the European Association for Local Democracy, was held on 12 May in Paris, at “La Convention”, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ALDA counts today over 200 members among local authorities, associations of local authorities, and civil society organizations and their networks in the enlarged Europe. This is the first meeting of the GB in 2016: the Board gathers together the representatives and the delegates of ALDA members, elected in 2012 in Udine (Italy) . The Board discussion focuses firstly, on the organisation of the next General Assembly, which will take place in spring 2016 and during which the new Governing Board members will be elected. Dear members and friends, The first meeting of the Governing Board of ALDA in 2015 was held on 5 and 6 February, hosted in the Town Hall of Camden Borough Council, in London. As usual, the agenda was extremely packed. I am pleased to say that the activity program of the Association and budget for the year were approved. The annual General Assembly of ALDA took place on 6 June in Strasbourg, hosted by the Council of Europe. Mr Andreas Kiefer, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, welcomed the over 50 members attending from the enlarged Europe.
